Very inspirational. Best thing is he got educated and used that educational to make better decisions. I pray more people get educated on the right things in life and not just what is marketed to them. Great story.

  8. Salujathustra Posted on December 22, 2019 at 5:49 pm

What a loser this guy has been all his life, steeped in ignorance, letting innocent scream in ignorance, and now, changing the narrative, pretending they have transformed, well guess what? You have not, nor will you ever be, till your last breath, because all your life, you have thought of yourself, securing yours interest, and you are still the same. So, fuck off!

  9. Some Guy Posted on December 22, 2019 at 5:51 pm

I switched for health reasons too. I used to eat meat and dairy but thought I was eating a healthy diet. I did drink soy milk, but got scared of soy so I quit. I then started using whey protein powder to try to gain muscle. I then developed a lump in my chest. Breast cancer in men is rare, but possible. I went to my doctor, and he put me through a series of tests for cancer. I researched what I could eat to help my chances. The documentary "Forks Over Knives" convinced me. I dumped the whey and switched to a mostly Whole Food Plant Based vegan diet. By the time I was supposed to have a biopsy, they weren't able to get a sample, because my lump had shrunk so much. I felt so much more energy on my new diet, I kept it. In fact, I am now 100% vegan years later. I am in my 60's, and never felt better. I get glowing reports from my doctor and need no prescriptions. I love to go hiking, play Frisbee, do chin ups, etc.

uhh well you can be a plant-based anti-vegan

    you look healthy, great story

  12. Fred Distenbrain Posted on December 22, 2019 at 5:58 pm

My "Why" is why don't doctors know this stuff? They see people in the early stages of nutrition related health problems and do nothing but reach for their prescription pads. My doctor wanted to put me on statins when my cholesterol went off the charts. Instead, I immediately went 100% plant based and had my total cholesterol down to 200 in 2 weeks. At my 4 week doctor's visit it was down to 186 and the doctor had no interest how I achieved it. He was just pissed I didn't follow his orders. Needless to say I don't use this quack anymore.

  13. kanenas Posted on December 22, 2019 at 6:02 pm

So he ate pasta and meat and it's the meat that made him diabetic? You guys know people with CGMs are laughing at your lies right? This is a serious issue. People are suffering. And you are part of the problem.

The less we eat animal products the more they can have without needing more Ressources… You say "i want" and we say "No thanks" so whats the Problem

I hold a memorial skeet shoot and BBQ for the last twenty one years. Starting next year it is going to be nothing but beans, rice, seeds. Can't have nuts a lot of people there are allergic to nuts.
Number of shooters will drop dramatically. But our local vegan community won't be at my range debating with us. There is so much you can do with rice. You can steam it.

Obesity, heart disease and colon cancer run in my family. I love being plant based and would never, ever contemplate eating animal flesh again.

Meat doesn't cause T2 diabetes, the standard American diet does. Avoid high sugar, high fructose corn syrup, highly processed carbs. Vegan diet is better than SAD, but both are unnatural.

I wish my friends and family would take their health seriously. No one can make the change for you. All of this "you've gotta die of something" well yeah, you'll die, but what will your quality of life be like? We've only got one body, we should treat it right.

  46. Keith Davidson Posted on December 23, 2019 at 1:39 am

I was a public servant sitting behind a desk. I put on a lot of weight too over the years with little exercise. Thankfully I escaped diabetes but endured over 10 years on dialysis before receiving the miracle of a transplant. Since then Iโ€™ve lost a lot of weight and now gone onto a substantially plant-based diet. Provided weโ€™re careful to ensure we eat all the right things to get the full range of amino acids itโ€™s the way to go!

  47. dave cao Posted on December 23, 2019 at 1:41 am

Well done Bob, However being Vegan has a problem, they keep eating SUGAR and sugar is the addiction that people won't let go.
Plant Based is the answer with NO SUGAR.
I am 70 and had the worst year of my life with Bowel Cancer,, the removal of my large intestine, put on "Fentanyl" and suffered Paranoia, attempting to smash the hospital windows , I pulled all my tubes out as I thought they were trying to kill me. After this I had a Heart attack and three strokes so they gave me 3 weeks rest before they gave me a Quintuple Heart By Pass.
Education and research saved my life. I now have so much energy the grandkids can't keep up with me. Please make sure you watch. " the game changers" it will change your life if your brave enough, and not believe the lies you have been taught.

  59. Massimo Fazzolari Posted on December 23, 2019 at 11:36 am

Don't blame meat for what overeating and bad lifestyle did.

  60. Mike Masail Posted on December 23, 2019 at 11:38 am

I wish people would stop using the term "VEGAN DIET".

I despise the term "Vegan Diet".

Veganism is a lifestyle not a diet.

A so called vegan diet can consist of only French fries, Oreo cookies, Coke/Pepsi/Sprite, fried Onions, wonder Bread, Spread with "I cant believe it is not butter'", Gummy Bears (Vegan) and a whole host of Vegan processed Junk food.

People eating like this are going to be unhealthy, and probably more unhealthy than those following a traditional western diet.

As Michael Pollan said" Eat real food, mainly Plants and not too much.

Follow a Low Fat Whole Food Plant Based diet, Limited oil, salt and sugar, no Processed foods and very limited animal products, good for you, good for the planet.

Do as Jeff Novick says, dont eat C,R,A,P Calorie Rich And Processed foods.

Combine This with what Michael Pollan says and you have a perfect recipe for a healthy diet.

  61. Carolyn Brown Posted on December 23, 2019 at 1:04 pm

WHY was this wonderful story followed by a Dr Gundry add? That does not compute.

  62. Bar K Posted on December 23, 2019 at 2:26 pm

Everything is gradual. Vegan… then cleaning your plate finding less toxic foods… then finding foods for your health needs… it is vital to remove sugars refined flours and oils…removing all processed foods…going organic…more fine tuning some say final level is all raw.
Every move is beneficial you choose the speed. Go Vegan feel alive!๐Ÿ‘ Compassion is the best flavor and healthy the best life! Blessings for the New Year!๐Ÿ’ซโฃ๐ŸŽ‰

After reading the comments… Please, for both sides, go and educate yourselfs…
    Nutritionalfacts.org is an awesome resource…
Cownspiracy is a great documentary about how what we eat destroy the world, the only point that is easy to debate in the documentary is about the rain forest being the lung of the world…
Pure plant nation, showing miracles occurring during the 10 days program, new start…
    Game changers, about protein, aminoacids…
What a healt for health… One point, veganism is not the cure, but gives the best opportunity to the body to heal itself.
There are a lot of good resources…

advocating for SBD/space between diet: vegan diet for human digestion : hopefully Government can be Scientifically Studying what optimal diet within Veganism is: ( as well for understanding what specific vegan diets animals eat )/ (what materials have the most scientific integrity for all processes/all systems: specifically):
my best understanding of what optimal diet for humans is, is:
    Space Between Diet
    certified organic
    no wheat products
    no soy products
    no peanut products
    no coffee bean products
    vegan (plant-based) foods diet

I'm 25 and I have 3 chronic deseases, chronic irritatable bower syndrome, chronic knee pain, neurological issues at my 24 my hands were shaking uncontrollably for years… 5 months in vegan diet I don't have any of these anymore to whoever wants to doubt this diet it's your problem…. when u see so many people have huge results from it but u stubbornly want t keep your meat diet it's really your issue but I'm glad I got out of this when ironically 2 years ago I barely knew about veganism lol I once saw on mastershef they told them t make meat without using meat and I was so ignorant that I thought "lol they are messing with them" and from that by accident i became vegan and saw the results then searched about it and now I'm glad I did it..

  80. Johannes De Boeck Posted on December 24, 2019 at 1:20 pm

The lesson is that you must choose between eating high carb or eating high fat.
It is the combination of both that is unhealthy. Pasta with meat and cheese is not a sustainable combo.

Ditched dairy first and then quit meat and became full vegan. Been almost 5 years and those damn acne have never returned. I'm so happy that I found veganism.

I work at a homeless shelter and one of the friends of a host there has foot problems that could eventually require amputation. I got to talking about the food program 'whole food-plant based' and how the government can't be providing false information about meat and dairy being healthy and required, especially that glass of milk on the USDA recommended meal. Eating only a tiny amount of meat and dairy might be acceptable but people don't do that, including myself before the program.

It takes great discipline initially and work to change the diet but it is very sustainable after done and completely satiating for almost everyone. I hope people get the will and discipline and make it the #1 priority and their life will be night and day. Mine was night and now is day after changing.
