Are Lowrey’s Microwave Pork Rinds Keto Friendly? Blood Glucose Test

Hi guys. It”s Friday. I ordered this from
Amazon. I’m so excited for this. Let me show you what it is. This is Lowery’s hot and spicy pork rinds that you
put in the microwave. I tried this for the first time; when I went to Kauai, I bought it
at the Walmart there and I never ate it the whole time I was there. So I brought it home
with me and I just opened it and popped it in the mic. Well not popped it, heated it
up in the microwave. The other day and I was like, Oh my gosh, where have these been my whole keto life? They’re like little popcorn packages. You put it in the microwave, shake
it up real good. And that helps get the seasoning or whatever in there. I dunno how they do
this witchcraft because popcorn, okay, the kernels pop open and you get the popcorn.
But how did they make pork rinds out of these? Like, like they’re tiny little bits in there
and you heat it up and they expand and they’re full pork rinds. This is amazing. I bought this. I have not
even looked at the ingredients. I don’t care. Seriously, because these are so good. I don’t
care what the ingredients are, but just for the sake, let me look at it. So I could tell
you guys if there’s anything out of the ordinary. Dammit, there’s Maltodextrin in it. I’m still gonna eat this. So it says it’s pork rinds, maltodextrin, salt, less than 2% of natural flavorings monosodium glutamate. So really the main one is the maltodextrin because maltodextrin can spike your sugar. These have one gram of carbs. It’s total fat to one gram of carbs, So I counted as one gram of carbs, 10 grams of protein. Servings per
container, 3.5. I ate the whole bag myself the other day. I’d be curious to find out
if there is a blood sugar spike after I eat these to see what the maltodextrin does. So ,I guess we’re going to do that today. I’m really starving and want to eat lunch. But
for you guys, for the sake of this experiment, I’m going to eat these and do a blood sugar
test at 30 minutes and one hour afterwards. Then, I will get to my real lunch. So before
we actually popped these suckers, we should take a base blood sugar reading. Dang it.
Maltodextrin. Why do you have to be in my pork rinds? Lowery’s get on that! Fix, that
maltodextrin. Okay, here we go. Okay. Our base is 86. So I’m going to microwave this
sucker, eat it up and then I will check my blood sugar in 30 minutes and one hour after
eating it. I cooked mine in the microwave for two minutes. It’s already deflating right
now. Yeah, I can’t believe they say that this is supposed to be 3 1/2 servings. I will gladly eat it my dang self. So this is actually going to be three carbs then because
it’s almost one carb for one serving. Oh man. Oh, that’s interesting. I smelled like ammonia when I opened the bag. [whines] Ahh, why? Okay, so that’s what it looks like in there. They’re poppin’ like crazy. If you can hear
it. [crackling sounds] Sounds like a crackling fire. Mmm. Oh??? Are there two different brands of these? This says
as hot and crispy? Oh, I got the original one. I don’t know if there’s another one.
I think the one I tried before was hot and spicy. Whatever! It’s very good. I’m going to
eat this bag, then start my time. I’m really convinced that my other one was hot and spicy. If that’s the case, I really want to spicy one. I mean these have good flavor, but I
like spicy. Hi guys. I’m back. I took a nap for 30 min on the couch. I did go to the
gym today at four o’clock in the morning, so that’s the reason why I’m so tired. Ahh, 94
okay. Alexa, set an alarm for 30 minutes, so we’ll check it again in 30 minutes. That
will be one hour after I ate them and hopefully that number comes down. Okay guys, we are
back with our final blood testing, so just remind you, we started off at 86 and then I
believe it was 94 and now it’s one hour later, so we’re going to check it again. Okay. 99. Eh, it’s still going up. I don’t know
if I should do another blood test. Okay. In the name of science, I’m going to extend the
blood test to be an hour and a half after I’ve eaten it. So we will test again in another
30 minutes. I really wanted to eat lunch. I’m hungry, and I really wanted to eat lunch
and now I have to wait another 30 minutes so I could take another blood sugar test.
I will be back in a bit. And we’re back with our final blood sugar test. So this is now
one and a half hours after eating the pork rinds. Ah, it’s still going up. [whines] It’s one 106. Ohhh. It’s a shame these pork grinds are not so good for blood sugar. So here’s the theory
on this. Maybe I should not have eaten the entire bag. It’s only three grams of carbs,
but it’s 30 grams of protein or Does it have nothing to do with the protein?
And it really has to do with the maltodextrin? Don’t know. But like I said, this is not going
to change my mind. I’m still gonna eat these guys. I may not just eat them every day. They
might be like a few times a week or once a week kind of ordeal. Thank you so much for
