I used to live with a girl who was studying to become a doctor and I remember her putting ice cubes on her back as a way of loosing weight. Of course she didn't bother trying to eat more healthy foods.

My guess mint activates BAT. It has chemicals inside it which fool our taste receptors into thinking it's cold.

    Perhaps something new?

We already know that circa 10% of extra calorie burning can be induced via diet; as in eating peppers, red and black, green tea, coconuts and meats.  It's the high protein, medium chain fatty acids, caffeine and catechins, and capsaicin that do the deed.

It don't be mattering much, you still need to eat less calories than you expend if you want to lose weight.

is there a threshold at which decreasing temperatures stops promoting fat burning? i.e. does our body adapt to long term exposure to cold conditions by storing fat, for insulation? and would this cancel out effects of BAT activation?
