Good Dee’s Corn Free Bread Mix Review – Keto Friendly

hey there it’s Steve from Serious Keto
and in this video we’re gonna review good Dee’s corn free bread cornbread mix
but before we do that if you enjoy low-carb cooking videos product and
ingredient reviews as well as lessons learned from my experiences with the
ketogenic lifestyle and intermittent fasting click that subscribe button down
there and while you’re at it click the bell next to it so you’re notified
whenever I release a new video so I picked up this good Dee’s corn free
bread cornbread keto mixture and used it to make some corn dogs in the corn dog
maker video which I’ll link to up here and honestly the texture just wasn’t
right it cooked too fast on the outside not fast enough on the inside but you
know maybe it just wasn’t meant for corndogs so I thought I would give it a
try in its actual application which is corn bread now the first thing that’s
apparent to me when I look at the texture is it doesn’t really look like
cornbread so much it’s kind of got more of a spongy cupcake sort of texture to
it but that’s fine to me if it tastes like cornbread hmm it’s actually quite a bit more moist
than any cornbread that I’ve had and I do kind of like that often times with
cornbread you just got to load it up with butter and honey just to even be
able to swallow it down because it’s kind of dry so I like that but
flavor-wise it it just doesn’t seem to be there for me you know in terms of
that real cornbread sort of taste so I like it but I don’t love it and here’s a
couple other things I don’t love first off a bag of this $13 on Amazon kind of
pricey additionally I don’t like the way it sets up the nutritional facts it’s
got one gram of net carbs per serving but that serving is 1/12 of a package or
18 grams I feel like you’re making me do math
here and that’s not what I signed up for additionally it only gives the carb
counts for the ingredients not for the actual cornbread once you make it though
really what you’re adding is three large eggs quarter cup of melted butter and
one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar so you know you’re probably not really
adding any additional net carbs to it still don’t make me do math on a label
please if you’re really really really jonesing for corn bread and you know
find that $14 for an eight inch pan of cornbread is worth it to you then maybe
you buy this for me I’m gonna say no I think I can probably come up with a
better tasting cornbread likely using one of the one-on-one flavors extracts
to get there so keep your eyes open for that in the future in terms of a corndog
batter I’m gonna start working on that probably as soon as tomorrow because I’m
thinking that corndog maker is gonna be a lot of fun so that’s it I’m gonna call
the corn free bread probably not a purchase but hey you make your own
decision thanks for watching

Prices on Keto convenience foods is out of sight. While quality ingredients are expensive, I simply will not buy more (of several items) until economy of scale and competition lowers prices.

Thanks for the review. Saved me the time, money, and effort 👍 Cornbread will never be cornbread without real cornmeal. So I will stick to the very similar, quite delicious, easy, and inexpensive standin that I found at Gnom-Gnom.com.

Hi'Faulitin Low Carb did a cornbread battle that was good and he also made a video with a version he came up with for chicken and dressing. I made that for some holiday stuffing. I did use the corn extracts in that and it looked and tasted almost like real cornbread to me. Check it out.

Let me say something good first. I love your channel and recipes. Now, you think a package with 12 servings is math too difficult to navigate? Really? It's pretty damn standard for baking especially. Make the recipe. Cut into 12 pieces. Oh the horror of figuring that out. And less of a concern but still…you expected something without anything in it that makes cornbread to taste like cornbread to actually taste like cornbread? You can't be serious.

I really don't like mixes unless I make them myself from ingredients I know. And seriously? $14 dollars?! I doubt many people will or can afford pay that price for it! I will wait for your recipe because I know you will create a much better recipe with good ingredients and better texture and flavor than theirs!

Hi Steve. I'm looking forward to your recipe. As far as pricing, if you go directly to the Good Dee's website (link below) they have rotating sales for mixes that are usually $3.00 less than Amazon, w/free shipping over $60. At the moment their carrot muffin/cake mix is on sale. Also, they have an affiliate program, so if you do make a buik purchase to do research for us 🙂 it will hurt less. https://gooddees.com/collections/front-page/products/good-dees-carrot-muffin-cake-mix-low-carb-gluten-free-and-dairy-free

Hi Steve,,,,,,,please DON'T forget about us PUMPKIN lovers out here. I know corn bread is a fall thing also, but honestly, the little bit of corn bread I ever eat, I'll buy Marie Calanders mix every time and then just eat one serving. That's all I need. LOL. BUT,,, my PUMPKIN chaffle's go in the freezer, as dessert, nearly every night. LOL. Wanted to add, I totally enjoy HOW you work in the kitchen. The most important tool IS the rubber SPATULA….LOL. I absolutely can NOT stand it when cooks just dump food in a bowl, and don't scrape out the measuring cup. Seriously? I always say, "clean out the cup!" OR. "clean out the spoon!" SO,, with you, I can relax and enjoy the video! You're TOPS in the kitchen! 👏👍 🎃👀🎃

Really appreciate this video. Its honest and upfront and I value that more than anything. I wondered about the package mixes by that company and my thoughts are now confirmed and set to rest. To me that's pretty pricey for a small pan of any baked good especially when it's not that great. Taste is all subjective, but I do value your critique! And over and above all your great presentations….I love the fact that you keep them on point and brief! I hesitate on viewing most vidoes 'cuz they are way too long. Your's is the exception for me. The moment I see a notification, I'm immediately viewing it. Love your channel and appreciate all the time and effort you put into making each one! From a fellow Wisconsonite 🙂

Yes please create an awesome cornbread, preferably sweet (or advise the best way to sweetened it…I struggle sweetening my chaffles, not positive the best method/sweetener to use… liquid stevia, monk fruit, erythritol etc.

Have you tried any of the keto cornbread recipes? I’m guessing none impressed you. Lol

Yeah, I'll pass for that price. I've made a few cornbread recipes and they just don't have the right texture. They are all spongy. Cornbread should have some grit to it and be just slightly crumbly, but not dry. I look forward to your recipe to see if you can replicate it. And I'm so itching to buy that corndog maker. Please use it some more so I can justify it lol

Hey Steve this has nothing to do with the cornbread mix but I have been looking into luptin flour . Do you have any thoughts on it, and is it keto friendly? I am seeing a "Miracle Dough " that you can make with it and it seems to be very versatile.
