Today on The Stay At Home chef I’m
showing you how to make Easy Flank Steak Fajitas These steak fajitas are super
easy to make they come together in less than 20 minutes. To start I’m going to
show you how to make your own homemade fajita seasoning mix. You’ll need
2 teaspoons of ground cumin,
2 teaspoons of chili powder 1 teaspoon of onion powder
1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes
for a kick. You’ll stir this together. This is way cheaper than buying one of
those packets. Next we’ll slice up some bell peppers and I’m using multi colors
here so I have one green, one yellow, one red but you can do whatever you’d like
and we’ll slice these into little strips You’ll also need to slice an onion and
I’m using a red onion today but you can also use a white or yellow onion. Then
you’ll need to slice 8 ounces of mushrooms Then we’ll take all of these veggies over to the stove. Add about 2 tablespoons of cooking oil, so I’m using olive oil, into a large heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Then we’ll add in
all of our veggies. We’re gonna let these saute until softened which will take
about 7 to 10 minutes. Meanwhile, we’ll get our steak ready. I’m using about 1 1/2 pounds of flank steak and you can see the grain or these lines running
through the meat. You want to slice your steak perpendicular to the grain. The
grain provides a natural breaking point in the meat so with this kind of tough
cut you want a lot of breaking points which will keep your meat from being
chewy. So slice this up nice and thin Set the meat aside for a second and
we’ll check on our veggies over back at the stove. Now just before those veggies
start to get soft you want to add in about half of your fajita seasoning mix
as well as 1 to 2 cloves of minced garlic. garlic and let this cook for about 1 to
2 minutes. Then you’ll want to remove all of the vegetables from the pan and put
it in a bowl to set aside while we cook our steak. No need to even wipe out the
pan, you’ll just add your steak into that hot skillet. Sprinkle in the rest of your
fajita seasoning and I like to add in about 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire
sauce for added flavors and we’ll cook this meat until it’s brown.
When flank steak is sliced thinly like this it cooks really fast so it really
only takes about two to three minutes and keep it stirring and flip the pieces
around so that everything gets cooked through. Then just before the meat is finished cooking add back in the veggies so they
can warm back up. Give it a toss and then last drizzle in the juice of two limes
which is about 1/4 cup. Grab some flour tortillas, maybe a little sour cream and
cilantro and you are ready to eat! Thanks for watching! You can find the full
