How To Make Beef Breakfast Sausage ~ Homemade Breakfast Sausage Patties

Have you ever thought of making or eating a beef breakfast sausage? Hi everyone I’m Tess and I’m going to show you in this video recipe how to make an easy and delicious beef sausage that you will love. (intro music) If you don’t eat pork or you have some ground beef you need to use this is a nice alternative breakfast sausage recipe. And the answer to your question is, yes. You can also use the same spices for ground turkey, chicken or venison. Before we get started, just a reminder that you’ll be able to find this recipe, the list of ingredients and much more in the show more section below and if you have a chance, please check it out. I’m starting by mixing all the spices together. I have some brown sugar, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, a little crushed red pepper flakes, onion powder, marjoram and lots of sage. Mixing all those together until smooth. Just make sure that there’s no big chunks of spices so they mix evenly with the beef. I have 2 pounds of 80/20 ground beef. You want the sausage to be flavorful and juicy so you really don’t want to use a leaner beef for this recipe. If you do have a leaner ground beef you may want to add a little oil like a tablespoon of avocado or safflower oil to keep it juicy. Adding the spices and mixing well with the ground beef. If you’re not sure of the spices, or the amounts that you like, you can take a small portion of the sausage like a tablespoon and fry it off for a taste test. Just remember that you can always add more spices but you can’t take away. After mixing, cover and refrigerate the sausage for 24 hours so all the flavors can marry together. After 24 hours form the sausage patties. I got seven nice size beef sausage patties and it all depends on how big you make them. At this point you can freeze the patties. I’m putting some wax paper between the sausage, placing in a freezer bag and labeling. It is so convenient in the mornings to get a couple sausage patties out of the freezer to make breakfast. To fry, I just add a couple of beef sausage patties to my oiled cast-iron pan. I fry on medium heat for three to four minutes on each side or until done. You could also break up the beef sausage and make a sausage scramble or, how about some biscuits and sausage gravy?! I love all the spices and flavors in the beef sausage. You can make the sausage as spicy as you like adding more pepper flakes or some cayenne pepper. Some other spices you could use would be some thyme… poultry seasoning, oregano or even some fennel seed. You will just need to experiment with the seasonings that you like. A couple suggestions on how I serve the beef sausage, I serve with some fried potatoes and eggs and the sausage patties are great for breakfast sandwiches. This morning I am making a beef sausage egg and cheese bagel sandwich. I hope you give this beef breakfast sausage a try and enjoy. This is really unusual. I would never have thought to use beef instead of pork. And I love how you patted them out and left them on the parchment paper to freeze. Excellent. 😊

Hi Tess, that beef sausage looks great. I used to always watch my parents make their Italian sausages, they are so labour intensive.

Thank you for this recipe! My husband needs to cut drastically down on his sodium intake and I can make this without adding the salt! He's been missing sausage so much!

Awesome video! I was just experimenting with spices I had and used ground beef because we were out of pork. Turns out you and I used similar spices ( i didnt have marjoram or red pepper flakes. I could have used chili paste we have, but birds eye is way too hot for everyone else, not me). Cant wait to try it for brunch tomorrow!

Delicious and easy to make. After "testing" one I added another tsp of garlic and 2 tsp of sage. Going to make sausage gravy this weekend.

Yummy this was so good. I accidently added too much salt, it still came out delicious! The brown sugar balanced it out well.
