Ketogenic Diet: Benefits for Health (Keto)

The 12 main health benefits of the ketogenic
diet. The ketogenic diet, also known as ‘keto’ has become one of the most popular diets in the
world for losing weight and healing the body. Keto is where your body runs on fat instead of sugar and carbs, which is a much cleaner
fuel source for the body. When your body enters ketosis, it is able to reverse damage from many different conditions
such as diabetes, obesity, liver problems, heart disease, neurodegenerative disorders
and many more. In today’s video we will share with you a list of 12 benefits of the ketogenic diet,
and explore how keto can restore your body to its greatest potential. 1. Fat Burning
To follow a ketogenic diet you must reduce the amount of carbs that you eat to less than
20-30g per day. The body then starts to burn fat for energy instead of carbohydrates. It
does this by making ketones from fat in the liver, which are then used for fuel instead
of sugar. This makes it very easy to tap into your own body fat, making this the fastest
way to lose weight. 2. Reduce Inflammation Inflammation is the number one cause of disease
in the body which is triggered from consuming too much sugar, junk foods and environmental
toxins. When the body enters ketosis, it makes some powerful ketones called Beta-hydroxybutyrate.
These ketones have been scientifically shown to reduce oxidative stress in the body and
help to reverse inflammatory disease like arthritis, peptic ulcers, asthma, Crohn’s
disease, sinusitis and other problems that involve swelling and pain in the body. 3. No Cravings
A ketogenic diet involves eating lots of green vegetables, saturated fats and moderate amounts
of protein. These foods contain far more nutrients per calorie than carbohydrates, which means
your body begins to receive the proper amounts of vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients that
it needs. This makes you feel satisfied after eating, feeling full and unlikely to crave
junk foods or carbs after following keto for 2-3 weeks. 4. Insulin Resistance
Insulin resistance is the main cause of inflammation and disease the body such as diabetes, hypertension,
obesity, brain disorders, fatty liver disease, Alzheimer’s, heart problems, hormone imbalances
and many more. Insulin takes energy and nutrients into the cells of the body, however if you
have resistance to this the cells become weakened and damaged. Cutting out the sugar and carbs
allows your cells to heal and allow nutrients to re-enter including ketones as a fuel source.
Keto has effectively reversed the conditions mentioned earlier, especially type 2 diabetes. 5. Brain Health
The brain’s preferred fuel source is ketones, so it will use these first before it uses
sugar from carbohydrates. Keto helps to prevent amyloid plaquing in the brain, lowering the
risk of neurodegenerative diseases like dementia and Alzheimer’s. Ketones help you to think
more clearly, improve memory, boost recall and cognitive function. They do this by improving
