The Best Keto Pound Cake – Like Sarah Lee, but only 4g net carbs

hey there it’s Steve from Serious Keto
and in this video we’re gonna make a keto friendly pound cake but before we
do that we’re gonna preheat our oven to 350 degrees and then if you enjoy
low-carb cooking videos product and ingredient reviews as well as lessons
learned from my experiences with the ketogenic lifestyle and intermittent
fasting click that subscribe button right down there and while you’re at it
click the bell next to it so you’re notified whenever I release a new video
this recipe was submitted to me by one of my Instagram followers John Peters
and I took his recipe and tweaked it just a little bit has changed around a
couple of ingredients and what I got my wife said tastes just like Sara Lee
pound cake now that might be a little bit generous but it’s a darn good pound
cake starting with our dry ingredients we have three cups of almond flour 1/4
cup of sweetener I’m gonna use bogus wheat you can use swerve 1/2 a teaspoon
of baking powder 1 teaspoon of xanthan gum and a pinch of salt we want to mix
the dry ingredients together first to ensure that that xanthan gum gets
properly dispersed separately we’re going to mix our wet
ingredients starting with one cup of heavy cream 1 tablespoon of olive oil 1
teaspoon of vanilla extract 3 large eggs 1 tablespoon of melted butter 2 packets
or about a quarter cup of performance– nut butter you could also use the keto
perfect nut butter or any macadamia nut butter the zest of one lemon and the juice of one lemon mixed
together then we’ll add it to our dry and mix grease an 8 inch loaf pan you use butter
I’m using coconut oil spray then pour in your batter it’s gonna be kind of thick
almost like cookie dough not quite somewhere between cookie dough
and cake dough so you’ll have to work it with the spatula then I bang it on the
counter a couple times to flatten out the bottom and then I wet my fingers and
just kind of flatten it out it doesn’t have to be perfect but once you get it
fairly smooth and enough tucked into the corners we can put it in the oven now
the total cook time on this will be between 50 and 60 minutes but we’re
going to come back in about a half an hour and check the top and if it’s
starting to brown we’re gonna put some foil over it 30 minutes in the top is
looking fine we’ll check on it again in another 15 at 50 minutes I’m liking the
look of this color on top but let’s poke it and see if it’s done my skewer came
out a little bit moist so we’re gonna put this back in the oven for probably
another 10 minutes after I top it with some foil all right it’s been 60 minutes whoo that
looks pretty we’re gonna let this sit for at least a half an hour before we
run a knife around the edges to pop it out
we’ll run a knife around the outside edge and hopefully this will pop right
out and it did so we’ll move it to a cooling rack until it is cooled
completely that’ll probably take another hour to hour and a half we’ll plate this
up with some of my pistachio pudding it hasn’t fully set because it needs to
rest overnight so it’s gonna be more of a sauce this time around some 90% cacao
chocolate and a sprinkle of chopped pistachios pretty amazing flavors so great
the texture of the pound cake is awesome overall eight plus so there you go a
great keto pound cake topped with a great sauce this dessert will wow even
your non keto friends and family if you decide to use performance nut butter in
this I will include a link down below that gets you 15% off or 25% off if you
subscribe but you know no pressure you don’t have to do that at all you can
make your own or use perfect keto brand or any other brand of macadamia nut
butter I feel like I gotta say one more thing to wrap this up but my daughter
says all I got to say is thanks for watching

๐Ÿ˜‹ Could you omit the lemon and make it a cinnamon pound cake? Would you have to bump up some of the liquid? Thanks!

  5. Linda Dulmes Posted on October 23, 2019 at 1:21 pm

I love pound cake. I'll need to get more ingredients to try this, but sounds good! Do you have a pumpkin bread recipe? Go Packers!!

  6. vanash4 Posted on October 23, 2019 at 1:21 pm

I was hoping for an analysis of the pound cake like you do with other recipes. It really helps me determine if it's worth my time to make it. Peanut butter and lemon?

  7. DAVID DEPAOLO Posted on October 23, 2019 at 1:29 pm

  8. sarasayshi Posted on October 23, 2019 at 1:31 pm

That pudding looks like guacamole. The thumbnail is really off-putting. But the recipe itself looks good.

Another great video. At one point, the 1989 Batman movie popped in to my head.. "Where does he get all these wonderful toys?" A dedicated Zester and Lemon press, so cool!

  18. Desha Dixon Posted on October 23, 2019 at 2:10 pm

That sounds delicious!!! I absolutely love your videos!!! Is there any way that you could maybe make some recipes that just use coconut flour, for those of us that can't use almond flour? Thanks and please keep em coming!!! ๐Ÿ˜Š

  19. Serious Keto Posted on October 23, 2019 at 2:19 pm

For folks who don't read the description, I'm posting this here too: I screwed up the recipe in the video, using only 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder. It should be 1/2 TABLESPOON. It was still delicious and moist, but it was a bit dense. The correct recipe is on

  20. Allan Weilert Posted on October 23, 2019 at 2:26 pm

    Looks tasty, Steve!

  21. 1KayBilly Posted on October 23, 2019 at 2:28 pm

If you've gone this far, you might as well go all the way and make strawberry shortcake.

  22. Linda Dulmes Posted on October 23, 2019 at 2:36 pm

Question. I am new to Keto baking. I bought a package of sweetener labeled Erythritol. Is Swerve the same thing? Thanks.

  23. Lori Morse Posted on October 23, 2019 at 2:52 pm

Are there other alternatives for the nut butter?

  30. T B Posted on October 23, 2019 at 3:41 pm

Oh boy. I believe this just might be our Thanksgiving dessert. I think with a pumpkin mousse topping it will be a big hit! Especially if topped with your Keto Candied Pecans (or pistachios). Yum! Thanks for the great video, as always – informative and entertaining to watch. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

So I bought the bocha sweet! I love it. I wad wondering how you count the carbs for it. I hadn't heard of Pentose until I bought this. I'm having a hard time finding info on it but it seems to be a great "sugar".

  36. SaltyRefrydBean Posted on October 23, 2019 at 6:28 pm

Is the nut butter necessary to keep the cake moist? I donโ€™t have any on hand at the moment.

  37. Olga P. Posted on October 23, 2019 at 7:07 pm

  45. Cheryle Breaux Posted on October 23, 2019 at 9:30 pm

I know you said any macadamia butter would work but would almond butter also work? I realize it would change the taste a bit but would it be the same texture do you think? I have everything to make this except the macadamia butter.

Never mind…I just went to your website and you say almond butter will work. Can't wait to make this. I love pound cake!!

Question, recipe calls for 1T olive oil, but you also added 1 T butter. Is that one of the tweeks you talked about? So was it 2 T of olive oil and none of butter, or 2 T butter and no olive oil?
I am going to try this in the mini griddle so i can freeze deserts for me. Yum!

  52. Vicki Willems Posted on October 24, 2019 at 12:09 am
