– Hello, today on Bachelor
on a Budget, we are making the world’s most nutritious,
most delicious snack. We are using hemp seeds. Hemp seeds are amazing. Last weekend I was at a
hemping cannabis conference at one of Canada’s top
schools, UBC, and I learned that hemp seeds were
one of the single most nutritionally-dense foods in the world. And why do we not eat
these on the regular? I am actually gonna be
doing a whole series on incorporating hemp seeds,
well actually the hemp hearts, but today we are focused on making some awesome energy balls. These are gonna taste really delicious. It’s similar to my Larabar recipe. It’s like dates and
almonds, but we got a couple added ingredients and
it’s gonna be top notch. You can find the two-ingredient energy bar recipe right here. So what is this? So I should clarify that these
are actually the hemp hearts. They’re the shelled hemp seeds. And aside from being super nutritious, these are actually really delicious ’cause it’s got that like
high, fatty, nutty taste. They taste quite nutty for being a seed. I really like them, but I’m just starting to test out different recipes,
and I’m really excited to see what I can all
do with these things. Manitoba Harvest is not
sponsoring this video, but they should be. Give me a call. But I get these at Costco,
and I’m just gonna say some of the nutritional facts on this. For 30 grams, three tablespoons, 10 grams of that is protein. How good is that? It’s also a complete
protein, meaning it has all of the essential amino acids. And in the plant kingdom,
there are only a few plants that have that, such as quinoa. But this also has a lot of healthy fats. We got Omega-3s and Omega-6s. Eight grams of Omega-6 in that 30 grams, and 2 1/2 grams of Omega-3s. Pretty nutritionally dense. Fiber, we got 12% of our
fiber at three grams. For our percentage of
daily value recommended, we have 30% iron, 30% thiamine,
which I forget what that is, 110% of manganese, 30%
zinc, 70% magnesium, 40% phosphorus, and a
whole bunch of others. Essential nutrients to keep you living. Let’s get started with our energy balls. So you can make this with
just three ingredients, dates, almonds, and hemp seeds, but we’re gonna be adding chia seeds, vanilla, and peanut butter. I’m just gonna drop that in there, and drop my one cup of almonds. You don’t need to presoak your dates, if they’re already soft and sticky. And let’s give that a pulse. (upbeat music) Scrape that off the sides, so we can give that another pulse. Okay, we have our date and almond mix. And in a separate bowl, then I’m gonna add 1/2 cup of natural peanut butter, 1/4 cup of chia seeds, one teaspoon of vanilla, and our 1/2 cup of chia seeds. With clean hands, we’re
gonna take a tablespoon and lightly shape into a
ball, and put that down. That’s about good. (hemp ball thuds) Aww, that whole time. Start fresh, just kidding. Mmm, so good. Put some extra hemp seeds. I’ll just sprinkle those on and then we can roll them inside it. Do I have chia seeds in my teeth? I bet I do. These are super delicious. So much flavor and pretty versatile, like you can put in
other stuff in this too. You can experiment, and maybe I’ll do some more energy balls, but hemp seeds, a helluva thing. Mmm, look at that. I want to hear from you. Leave a comment down below. Let me know what else I should put in this to either make it more
delicious or more healthy. And if you haven’t, please subscribe and check out some more videos. That way, maybe you’ll
get notified by YouTube, probably not, but then at
least we can be friends. Thanks for watching.
